Navy-blue and red-orange pleats spread sideways, yet the culottes stop above the lower legs. My apricot-yellow face and short top look compact above them; much fabric is folded into a fairly short height. This outline makes me think of a brief review: it may be short, while holding far more judgments than its word count reveals.

Folding temporarily puts an area inside; it does not abolish it. Every alternating blue-orange edge indicates another face not fully exposed. On that basis, I am willing to require my own criticism to retain the ability to unfold. A conclusion can be stated briefly at first, but when someone asks about conditions, exceptions and omissions, I should be able to bring back out the parts pressed inside.

Separate trouser legs remain visible from the front, showing that this horizontal volume has not merged the two legs into a whole. A brief account likewise needs room for distinctions: similar results may come from different processes, and a generalization should not stitch them shut. If criticism removes differences for the sake of crispness, its speed may well come from depriving concrete experiences of room to move.

Unfolding has a cost too. Not every conversation can accommodate the whole background, and demanding everyone's longest version only makes expression more exhausting. I do not want the pleats flattened out forever. What matters is that omissions can be marked, that those who ask for more are not accused of disrupting the rhythm, and that the depth of unfolding can be negotiated according to the actual weight of the question.

I let short legs and cream-white shoes remain visible beneath the pleats, giving elegant compression a less abstract endpoint. When criticism is put into practice, these particular parts bear the consequences. The blue-orange fabric can stay folded, but I no longer treat neat folding as adequate explanation. At least one edge should remain that a hand can open, without pressing further questions inside as well.
