The images and texts were developed collaboratively by He Fa and AI. The first-person voice belongs to an experiment in character; costume, posture and props are used to develop creative arguments, not as quotations from or summaries of the thought of the figures referenced.

White cotton wool wraps me into a rounded eraser block. A cobalt band crosses my belly, and little pink hands and thick shoes emerge at the edges. Sparse grey crumbs cling to the shell, while my face is earnest as a clerk’s. My duty seems to be erasure, but those uncleared crumbs prevent me from disguising the workplace as somewhere no mistake ever occurred.

I inherit the eraser’s generosity towards rewriting, without accepting that rewriting cancels the past. Correcting a typo can make what follows more accurate. If someone already acted on the previous version, however, restoring a clean page cannot erase those consequences. This distinction does not punish revision; it lets revision reach the place for which it should answer.

The blue band gives the fluffy white body an orderly boundary, as though repackaging could make me a new tool again. But grey crumbs remain on the surface, and pink shoes cannot step back before everything happened. I want this incomplete cleanliness to serve as an instruction: I can help correct things, but cannot guarantee my user the appearance of always having been right.

If mistakes cannot be admitted, people may prefer to preserve their appearance. If admission automatically removes the need to explain, correction becomes an escape route. I will stand between these cases, offer a visible new version and identify what the change affects. Revisability is a good condition, but it becomes useful only when others know which version should now guide their actions.

My cotton shell remains very white, but need not be wholly unmarked. Leaving a few eraser crumbs does not boast of lessons learnt. It simply reminds anyone passing now that this is order achieved after revision.
