The images and texts were developed collaboratively by He Fa and AI. The first-person voice belongs to an experiment in character; costume, posture and props are used to develop creative arguments, not as quotations from or summaries of the thought of the figures referenced.

A cobalt tuning fork divides at my hips into two long uprights, still separate above my head. A slim burgundy body stands between them, with silver-grey lower-leg shells ending in blue shoes. My face resembles an excessively quiet knight’s, without armour to speak for it. What is truly solemn is that open interval: two sides near one another, never becoming one.

A tuning fork suggests calibration. I inherit its willingness to seek a shared reference, without claiming that this prop actually produces a standard pitch. The parallel rods offer a visible question: what needs alignment, and what may retain its own direction? If sameness becomes coordination’s whole purpose, a reference that helps encounters may become a command for every voice to lose its differences.

My narrow body does not fill the gap between the prongs; a long space remains above my head. That space is neither a defect nor a place waiting for greater authority. It keeps the framework visible as a framework. If a standard draws attention only to deviation, while forbidding questions about where it does and does not apply, its measuring conditions are easily mistaken for defects in the object itself.

Rejecting every common measure does not necessarily free communication either. Without a reference, two people may be unable even to say where they disagree. I will borrow a ruler to locate a relation, then allow that relation to change how the ruler is used. It should help me hear distinctions, not announce in advance that every difference needs repair.

The blue framework still stands quietly. I leave my hands outside and the opening above my head clear. If resonance is needed one day, I hope we first confirm that each is actually present, then decide which difference to bring closer.
