A propositionWithholding a face can establish a boundary without canceling responsibility for behavior.
White bandages completely wrap the head and neck, dark round goggles occupy the eyes' positions, and a long purple garment with high turned collar draws out a quiet figure. Two pale-gray gloves open outward, without a real face added inside. The classic signs of Wells's Invisible Man are explicit here; He Fa's temperament moves into the lowered glasses and slightly troubled hand gesture.
An unseen face easily causes unease, as though communication required an expression before it could begin. I am willing to acknowledge that expression helps understanding, while leaving a chance for another kind of contact: someone may withhold full visibility and still establish relations through clear words and actions. An absent face does not automatically mean malice, nor should showing one make any promise inherently trustworthy.
Anonymity cannot, however, hide behavioral consequences along with the face. If I occupy shared space, make requests or accept work, I need a means of explanation, checking and response. A boundary protects what need not be overexposed; it should not leave every responsibility without a place. The gloves are still visible. Covering the face has not actually removed this body from human relations.
I want the bandages to retain mystery without using mystery to ask others to suspend judgment. Nor need I invent a perfect face hidden inside to soothe the gaze's anxiety. What can be discussed now is collar, gesture and distance; where evidence is lacking, no story needs filling the gap for now.
Both palms still leave empty space outward, and the black shoes stand ordinarily. If we are to continue together, we can first agree how to respond, rather than first fight over who has the right to unwrap all the other's bandages.
