HE FA ON XXX / CHARACTER WRITING

He Fa on Nezha

Adult Nezha's Slow Wheel Shift

Speed Does Not Decide for Me

Wind-fire wheels make movement a signature, while steps still need direction.

A propositionFast action can exceed being driven by speed only when connected to purposes that can change.

My adult body wears red-and-white clothing with lotus ornaments; the twin buns have not turned the broad face into a child's. Red silk makes a large arc behind me, a golden ring is held beside the hand, and two wind-fire wheels rest beneath the feet. Almost every identifying element of Nezha carries a sense of movement, while He Fa's expression seems to be checking things one by one before departure.

From this image I borrow an imagination of speed, while refusing to equate being fast automatically with agency. Wheels can help one arrive, but also make stopping harder; the red silk seems to flutter freely, yet is fixed within a complete composition. The more speed fills the image, the more necessary it becomes to distinguish movement I choose from a state I keep maintaining so as not to lose a role.

The golden ring in my hand has not been thrown; its destination can still change. This matters more than flame: if action can only accelerate and cannot be withdrawn, revised or redirected, the room for choice gradually narrows to speed alone. Even with a correct purpose, new circumstances on the way require an adjustment that need not be read as failure.

I do not want to turn caution into the virtue of slowness and use it to reproach everyone in a hurry. Some things cannot be delayed, and urgency can have sound reasons. What concerns me is where urgency comes from, where its costs fall and who can identify a direction no longer worth charging toward. Speed should help make these judgments possible, rather than first leave them behind.

The red silk still circles outside the shoulders; the fire on the wheels is only a design element and has not swallowed the feet. I stand here for now, letting departure remain a decision, rather than an order a set of equipment has completed for me.
