HE FA ON XXX / CHARACTER WRITING

He Fa on Anubis

Anubis Waiting Quietly

Keeping Watch Is Not Possession

The jackal head turns to one side; an upright stance has not become an act of obstruction.

A propositionGuardianship should explain its object and boundaries, rather than acquire unlimited jurisdiction through solemnity.

A black jackal head transforms the face into another structure, two long ears upright, while a blue-and-gold collar and long white garment keep the body composed. An ankh-shaped object rests quietly in one hand; the other hangs down. I borrow Anubis's classic visual signs to stand as an adult character, translating He Fa's stillness into a posture unhurried about issuing orders.

I am not explaining religious doctrine here, nor performing an actual deity's speech. What the image lets me raise is the form of keeping watch: the dress makes me look qualified to stand beside a threshold, yet no threshold appears. If solemn appearance alone grants me the right to decide who may pass, decoration has already licensed a power not yet explained.

The long ears' apparent alertness does not prove I understand everyone who approaches, nor can the symbol in my hand replace explained rules. Guardianship should be trusted for what it specifically prevents and what appeals it permits, not merely because its keeper looks serious enough. A boundary visible only to entrants, while placing no limit on its keeper, readily expands into possession.

Yet I do not judge every boundary hostile. Some protections require waiting, checking and refusing; removing these acts may make it harder for those most in need of support to stay. The key is whether refusal offers appropriate reasons, waiting has understandable conditions and the keeper is willing to accept the same boundary.

The black hands remain low beside the white garment, the object not raised. I leave solemnity to this look, and decisions about passage to relations that can be explained and questioned.
