HE FA ON XXX / CHARACTER WRITING

He Fa on the Drawer Citizen

Drawer-Pyjama Citizen

Permission to open

Wearing drawers does not mean agreeing that every hand may pull them open.

A propositionA visible form of storage still needs clear boundaries of access.

Three pale-pink drawers stack up my chest and belly. Little yellow handles face different positions; the middle drawer projects, and the bottom leaves a gap. Blue pyjamas extend beyond the boxes to hands and feet. Enormous yellow slippers make me seem newly invited from private space into a gallery. When storage furniture becomes a body, looking readily produces the impulse to open it.

Drawers give loose things somewhere to stay. I borrow that order while keeping a half-open state. Closure need not mean secrecy, nor does opening mean willingness to disclose everything. Assuming a handle grants access lets a tool’s convenience overstep the decision its user should make.

The displaced middle drawer shows that tidying is unfinished, but cannot tell onlookers what I should deal with first. Some appearances provoke well-intentioned management of another life: push the projecting bit back, align every yellow handle. Yet tidying solely for the viewer’s comfort may make routes that suit the owner harder to use.

Nor can I turn boundaries into cabinet doors for avoiding shared matters. If something here is needed by others, storage and retrieval times require negotiable rules. Private space and shared responsibility need not cancel one another. We must distinguish whose object it is, whose need is involved and which opening has actual consent, rather than signing every action with “for your own good”.

My hands remain empty beyond the blue sleeves, and the drawers disclose no interiors. What is visible now is a posture of storage, not the surrender of a key to every compartment. The handles are bright. I will let them remain bright for now.
