From a distance, a landscape. Up close, photographs made at different times and positions.
Selected works2009 / Photography, light box
Streets, vehicles and windows repeat through several different image structures.

Inside and Outside a Vehicle extends across four image pages in the portfolio. One image compresses roads, vehicles and buildings into repeated horizontal rows. Another sets night-time architecture alongside silhouettes of pedestrians. Elsewhere, regular window-like cells hold buses, roads and trees. Recognizable urban fragments recur without resolving into one continuous panorama.
The images can be compared through their different arrangements: some emphasize lateral extension, others retain the boundaries of individual frames, and colour alternates with monochrome. The portfolio gives no individual titles for the four images. Its title page records a light-box work measuring 512 × 217 mm, dated December 2009. All four images remain grouped under that title here.
Based on pages 22–26 of the 38-page portfolio 何发-作品小汇. Title, date, dimensions and medium follow the original title page. Images were extracted independently from the PDF and retain their full compositions. The English title is a translation or transliteration for this website, not a verified historical English title.

TAKE A PATH ACROSS

Spaces transformed
Inside and Outside a VehicleTime Canyon / The Disappearing Tail
Inside and Outside a Vehicle places roads and vehicles in repeated rows; Time Canyon proposes narrative through bodily passages. Both handle passage and segmentation, but photographic records and an imagined experience are different kinds of evidence.
The first image arranges roads, vehicles and nearby buildings in repeated horizontal rows.
The original PDF and mind map organize a sensory journey through digestive passages, birth and death; they establish a conception, not a built performance.
Keeping and losing
Inside and Outside a VehicleRomance Theatre
Inside and Outside a Vehicle reorders city fragments; Liang Yin’s Romance Theatre proposal feeds records of interactions back into a script. One changes photographic positions; the other must also face participants’ willingness to continue relating.
The first image arranges roads, vehicles and nearby buildings in repeated horizontal rows.
Liang Yin’s November 2022 call proposes recording relationships, developing a script from the recordings and performance by participants; He Fa’s later account is dated separately.
