Images and presentation

The portfolio records three square images for Sanhetan. In the first two, trees, snow, stones and structures are joined from rectangular photographs; blocks of different brightness remain visible in the sky. The third turns to the water and its edge: boats, pavilions, stone paths and waterbirds occupy different rectangular photographs. Visible seams continually disclose how the image has been assembled.

The fragments do not fully share a single perspective. Each image can be read as a scene or examined along its seams, one photographed object at a time. The title page dates the work to February–April 2010 and identifies it as an archival pigment print measuring 520 × 520 mm. The three images sit under one work entry; the source does not give them individual titles.

Sanhetan reconnects photographs of snow, amusement structures and waterside scenes; the Hangzhou residency archive retains cancellation and relocation. One rearranges space within images, while the other has to bring people together again.
