A corridor that divides space

The proposal describes its spatial image as a “reclining black cube clock-monument,” positioned centrally to divide the space into three chapters. The floor plan on page 3 marks a route with a black rectangle and a winding blue line, making passage through space part of the narrative.

Spatiotemporal echoes

The text calls the Black Corridor of Spatiotemporal Echoes a necessary passage through the exhibition. It proposes to elongate physical space, disturb the experience of time and space, and evoke psychological responses through touch, sound, sight and taste. These are intended experiences recorded in a proposal, rather than retrospective claims about visitors.

The surviving proposal

The PDF cover is titled A Capsule Cut by Mysterious Light at the Onset of Spreading Darkness and Death. It includes reference frames from 2001: A Space Odyssey and a spatial plan. This entry uses Black Corridor of Spatiotemporal Echoes, the name given in the body text, as its archive title and retains the proposal’s collective voice.

Archive note

Prepared from the artist’s retained capsule proposal PDF. The floor plan is shown as proposal documentation; film references are not presented as works by He Fa.

Shunan Bamboo Sea draws the eye along a narrow vertical image; the Black Corridor proposal imagines bodily passage through a required route. Both extend viewing, while an existing image remains distinct from a spatial plan whose realization is unverified.

The Black Corridor proposal plans a required passage to engage the senses; Shixiang moves from conversation to a black stage. Darkness changes conditions in both, but a prescribed experience differs from a meeting where participants retain publication choices.
