Collaborative practice2017 / Collective art project proposal
A proposal for meeting across neighbourhoods and taking turns to host events.
The proposal identifies shared experience, life, time and space as its starting points. It envisages selecting artists from different districts of San Francisco to form a new collective, then travelling between their districts to hold events. Each participating artist would host and curate the event in their own area. Performance, installation, exhibition and other forms were encouraged, in homes or public spaces.
The text sets out recruitment, announcements and a year-long sequence of events, through which different communities might encounter one another repeatedly. These are plans within a proposal, not evidence of a realized exhibition or public programme. The ideas and timetable are retained as a document of possible collective work. The body names the group; He Fa’s specific responsibilities require further documentation.
Based on Fa He_AltEx_LongLongAgo.docx. The dates 2017–2019 refer to the application milestones and planned events in the proposal, not a verified production or realization period. The proposed 27 districts, 54-week schedule and participant numbers are not reported as completed outcomes. The original English project name is retained.

Long Long Ago / Project ProposalAppearance Arises from the Mind
The thesis discussion of Appearance Arises from the Mind imagines an extended scroll; Long Long Ago proposes rotating through neighbourhoods. Both open directions for expansion, but projected length and programme scale are not completed totals.
The 2012 thesis Looking for Shanshui Photography describes cropping, scaling and subjective arrangement, and proposes possible extension into a long scroll; the length is hypothetical.
The original proposal envisages artists from different neighbourhoods taking turns to host activities; recruitment and the year-long schedule are plans, not completion records.

The original proposal envisages artists from different neighbourhoods taking turns to host activities; recruitment and the year-long schedule are plans, not completion records.
The April proposal, May relocation notice and July account separately record plans, cancellation and relocation, and later recollection, retaining their distinct event status.
